Independent guide. Game information is source-reported, not independently play-tested.

Sell catches to Julian for Chimes in SCROOMS. Compare Sell Held and Sell Inventory, review the quote and calculate the balance needed for an instrument.

## Sell Held and Sell Inventory include different items

Speak to Julian at the wooden stall in Songkeeper’s Grove. The reviewed dialogue offers Sell Held for the creature currently held, and Sell Inventory for the creatures in your pack. Inspect the quoted selection and amount, then choose Deal! to confirm or Never mind… to cancel. [[source]](https://scrooms.app/guides/chimes/#source-chimes)

## Check quest items before selling a batch

Review your active requests first. [Toastbud](https://scrooms.app/scroomdex/toastbud/), [Gloombell](https://scrooms.app/scroomdex/gloombell/) and [Faebud](https://scrooms.app/scroomdex/faebud/) have source-reported quest connections. If a bulk sale includes a creature you need, cancel and check the available selection controls instead of assuming it will be retained.

## Confirm the change in your Chimes balance

After accepting the quote, compare the music-note balance with the previous amount. For an arithmetic example, a balance of 200 plus an accepted quote of 62 becomes 262. This example illustrates addition; it is not a fixed price for any creature.

## Calculate the next instrument budget

max(0, target price - current balance). Check the actual shop quote.

Worked budgets using the reported instrument prices

| Target | Example balance | Still needed |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Tamer’s Guitar: 100 | 60 | 40 |
| Adventurer’s Tambourine: 750 | 200 | 550 |
| Violin of Pilgrimage: 4,500 | 1,000 | 3,500 |

Open the [Chimes calculator](https://scrooms.app/tools/chimes-planner/) with your actual balance and current shop price. Compare the [instrument attributes](https://scrooms.app/instruments/) before deciding which upgrade is useful.

## Good questions, clear answers.

**Is the quoted amount a permanent species price?**

No. A quote applies to the offered selection at that moment. Do not turn one sale into a universal value table.

**How many catches will earn the remaining amount?**

This calculator does not predict earnings per catch or per hour. Update the balance after actual sales instead.
