## How to make a useful comparison

A more expensive instrument does not lead on every printed stat. Choose the attribute you are comparing and inspect that row; do not blend percentages, plain numbers and Resonance ranks into an unexplained score.

If you are comparing two percentage attributes, a difference of five percentage points is not a promise of five percent more captures. The game mechanics would need a separate test.

## Check the actual equipped item

Use the Equipment Bag’s Instruments tab and look for the equipped state. If the price or displayed attributes differ in your server, prioritize the game and record a correction rather than spending based on this snapshot. [[source]](https://scrooms.app/instruments/#source-instruments)

## Read the trade-off before buying

![Four Grove instruments. Reported Chimes prices; compare each printed attribute separately](https://scrooms.app/assets/guides/instrument-prices.png)

Gift / 100 / 750 / 4,500 Chimes. No measured catch-rate ranking is implied.

Attribute comparisons, not an overall tier ranking

| If you are comparing… | What the reference shows |
| --- | --- |
| Purchase price | Wooden Lute is a gift; Tamer’s Guitar is the lowest-priced purchase in this four-instrument set. |
| Printed Precision | Tamer’s Guitar lists +6%, compared with +5% on the Tambourine and +4% on the Violin. |
| Printed Tune Speed | Tambourine lists +15%; Violin lists +5%. Missing lines remain unknown. |
| Printed Luck | Violin lists +40%, but that number is not a measured probability of catching a rare creature. |

For example, a 750-Chime budget covers the reference Tambourine price. Compare its attributes with your equipped item and inspect the current shop before committing.
